Princess Anne gets put on UK coin for first time ever and everyone’s saying the same thing

Princess Anne has been honoured by the Royal Mint to celebrate her upcoming 75th birthday

On Friday (18 July) the Royal Mint announced that The sister of King Charles III was going to be honoured with an official UK coin for the first time ever – and royal fans are all in agreement about one thing.

The commemorative coin has been released in order to coincide with the year she’s celebrating her 75th birthday and features a portrait of her face on the front.

It also includes a depiction of The Princess Royal’s official Coat of Arms and the design is framed with the inscription: “The Princess Royal – Celebrating 75 Years – Duty and Devotion.”

The daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and sister of King Charles III will turn 75 on 15 August.

The coin and its design was based on an official royal portrait and has been personally approved by Anne herself.

In the picture, she’s wearing the stunning Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara created by Cartier.

Speaking of the historic moment, Rebecca Morgan, Director of Commemorative Coin at The Royal Mint, said: “For the first time in British numismatic history, we are honoured to celebrate The Princess Royal on an official UK coin.

“Her Royal Highness’s unwavering commitment to public service, charitable work, and support of His Majesty’s Armed Forces over seven and a half decades makes her truly deserving of this tribute.

“The graceful design by Thomas Docherty perfectly captures both her dignified presence and extraordinary legacy while also celebrating The Princess Royal’s 75th birthday.”

And as the first images of the new coin have been released, fans have all been saying the same thing – that it’s been a long time coming!

Royal family fans are over the moon for Anne and have expressed how much she deserves this, with some even stating she should have been honoured with a coin a long time ago.

One Facebook user wrote: “It’s about time this lady was recognised for all she has done and still doing for the future of the monarchy. God Bless you Princess Anne.”

A second added: “She deserves this for all her hard work and devotion to the family,” while a third said: “About time she’s the backbone of that family.”

The commemorative coin is available to purchase now from The Royal Mint’s website, with prices starting from £17.50 for uncirculated edition.

Thomas T. Docherty, Coin Designer at the Royal Mint and designer behind the coin added: “It has been an honour to create this commemorative coin celebrating The Princess Royal’s 75th birthday. In designing this piece, I wanted to capture Her Royal Highness’s remarkable legacy and dedication to public service.

“The portrait reflects her strength of character and unwavering commitment to duty. Being Scottish, I admire The Princess Royal’s dedication to Scottish organisations and communities, and I hope this coin serves as a fitting tribute.”

Congratulations, Princess Anne!
