It seems Donald Trump has a catchphrase he relies on frequently—and surprisingly, it’s not “fake news.”
As President of the United States, Trump has faced a barrage of questions throughout his time in office, covering everything from the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict to Elon Musk’s speculated friendly exit from the administration.
But when it comes to providing timelines for decisions or actions, the former president appears to have a favorite go-to answer.
That response? “Within two weeks.”
He’s repeated it so often that even his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has started using it on his behalf.
One of the major issues currently being discussed in Washington is the possibility of the U.S. launching an attack on Iran amidst its escalating tensions with Israel.
During a Thursday press briefing, Leavitt addressed this concern by delivering Trump’s signature vague timeline.
“Given the strong possibility of negotiations with Iran occurring soon, President Trump will make his decision about whether or not to proceed within the next two weeks,” she said.
This statement was quickly picked up online, with a clip of the press conference being included in a viral video montage highlighting Trump’s repeated use of the same phrase.
It may sound like an exaggeration to say that “within two weeks” is Trump’s favorite saying, but the video—a minute-long compilation—demonstrates just how often he resorts to it.
Reactions to the video on social media were swift and critical. One user commented, “So he’s flip-flopping again? Nothing surprising from this weak leader.”
Another asked, “Is he even aware how ridiculous he sounds?”
Others pointed out the lack of substance behind the repeated timeline.
“It’s always two weeks because there’s never anything real backing it up,” one person argued. “He just doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
Someone else added, “It gives people just enough time to hopefully forget what he said.”
Another user chimed in with a more psychological take: “There’s a reason scammers often use a two-week window. It’s short enough to seem realistic, but long enough for the public to forget or move on.”
The viral video surfaced around the same time a new poll gave insight into public opinion on Trump’s performance.
A survey conducted by Fox News revealed that 46% of respondents approved of Trump’s approach to immigration, while 53% disapproved.
When it came to foreign policy, the numbers were even less favorable: only 43% of people expressed approval, while 57% disapproved of how Trump is handling international affairs.
